There are so many different factors at play in operating your own Internet business that it can seem overwhelming at times.

A website, content, SEO, keywords, affiliate programs, PPC advertising, backlink development, list building, auto responders, etc., etc. etc.

Let me tell you something. If you try to wrap your mind around all of the various things that go into building an online business at the same time, you’re going to surrender.

It’s too much to ingest at one time. Trying to “get a grip” on every detail simultaneously is a good way to paralyze yourself (and to get a real migraine).

That’s why the best online moneymaking systems use a building-block approach. They start at the beginning and march you through the process one step at a time.

With a good approach and the right organization, all of those different factors become manageable. To tell you the truth, they even become very interesting and a lot of fun.

When it comes to owning a website, you don’t need to know everything to make money online.

You just need to know that you want to get started at building a website, and that you’re willing to follow a blueprint. If you get the right blueprint, everything else will fall into place.

I like to say, “It all starts with a website” because that’s my story. I picked up a great plan after a few years (yes, years) of struggling and followed it from A to Z. The first thing I worked on was creating my first website.

When my web site went live, I felt an amazing sense of accomplishment. That helped propel me through the additional steps.

I worked through the system, checking off boxes as I went, and suddenly realized that all of those different ideas and strategies that once seemed so overwhelming and frustrating really did fit together. They built on one another. They interacted together.

Instead of being paralyzed by the sheer magnitude of what can go into generating an income online, I became increasingly motivated. I learned how to drive traffic to my website. I was sure that my site was properly optimized. And I was seeing real money.

You see, it all starts with a website. That’s your “headquarters”.

Once you have that presence, you have something to which you can pin all of those other concepts. They stop being vague, theoretical notions and have real application and meaning.

If I was going to offer a few nuggets of advice to someone who was interested in making money via the Internet, I would say:

First, don’t worry about the trees as you get involved in this forest. Don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed and understand that you don’t need to know everything from the very beginning.

With a good website plan, you can develop a sense of how the pieces fit together and you’ll soon find yourself well-informed and excited.

Second, it all starts with a website. Get rolling. Make something. Follow a plan to do it the right way. Once you have that first site alive and kicking, you really can start making money online.
